Bagaimana Cara Kerja Pemutus Arus?

Pemutus Arus AC vs Pemutus Arus DC: Perbedaan Utama

Item PerbandinganPemutus Arus ACPemutus Arus DCCatatan Pemilihan
Polarity RequirementUsually less sensitive to polarity in standard AC circuits. Some DC circuit breakers may have polarity requirements depending on design and wiring.Check the wiring diagram and product markings before installation.
Breaking CapacitySelected according to the expected short-circuit current in AC distribution systems.Selected according to the DC fault current and system voltage.Breaking capacity is critical for safe fault interruption.
Installation MethodCommonly installed on DIN rails or inside distribution panels.Commonly installed in PV combiner boxes, battery cabinets, DC panels, or control enclosures.Confirm space, wiring direction, and enclosure type.
Recommended UseSuitable for AC power distribution and equipment protection.Suitable for DC circuit protection where DC arc interruption is required.AC breakers should not replace DC breakers unless clearly rated for DC use.
Selection Tip: For solar PV systems, battery systems, and DC distribution panels, always choose a DC-rated circuit breaker with proper arc extinguishing capability.

DC Side Protection for Solar PV

The DC side of a solar PV system usually includes PV strings, PV combiner boxes, battery systems, and inverter input circuits. Because DC current has no natural zero-crossing point, DC-rated circuit breakers and protection devices are required for safe fault interruption.

  • DC MCB for PV strings and DC distribution circuits
  • DC MCCB for higher-current PV and energy storage systems
  • DC Fuse for string-level overcurrent protection
  • DC SPD for surge and transient overvoltage protection

AC Side Protection After Inverter

After the inverter converts DC power into AC power, the AC output side also needs reliable protection. AC circuit breakers and surge protection devices help protect distribution panels, downstream equipment, and connected loads.

  • AC MCB for low-voltage AC distribution protection
  • AC MCCB for higher-current AC output protection
  • AC SPD for surge protection on the AC distribution side
  • Suitable solutions for commercial, industrial, and solar projects

What is the difference between MCB and MCCB?

MCB is generally used for lower-current circuits and compact distribution boards. MCCB is used for higher-current applications and systems that require higher breaking capacity.

RCCB provides residual current protection, while RCBO combines residual current protection with overload and short-circuit protection.

AC circuit breakers should not be used in DC systems unless the product is clearly rated for DC applications. DC circuits require breakers designed for DC arc extinguishing.

Solar PV systems commonly use DC MCBs or DC MCCBs on the DC side and AC circuit breakers on the AC side after the inverter.

You need to confirm AC or DC system, rated voltage, rated current, breaking capacity, number of poles, installation method and application.
